You will work directly with people supported by Community Integrated Care, as well as their families, loved ones, advocates and circles of support.
This includes people with learning disabilities, autism, sensory impairments and complex communication needs. Some people may communicate non-verbally or use alternative and augmentative communication. Your work will help ensure everyone has the opportunity, adjustments and support needed to participate meaningfully.
As our Involvement, Impact and Accessibility Specialist, you will plan and deliver inclusive engagement and co-production activities. These could include surveys, forums, workshops, consultations, focus groups and listening events.
Your key priorities will include:
- Building trusted relationships with people supported, families, loved ones, advocates and Experts by Experience
- Facilitating accessible engagement and co-production activities
- Adapting communication methods, formats and environments so people can participate meaningfully
- Co-producing accessible information and resources with people supported and families
- Creating Easy Read, plain English, visual, audio and digital information
- Identifying appropriate adjustments such as large print, captions, British Sign Language, interpretation, translation, symbols and assistive technology
- Supporting people with lived experience to influence recruitment, colleague learning, service development and quality improvement
- Ensuring people receive suitable preparation, support, recognition and reasonable adjustments
- Helping people share their experiences through stories, case studies, campaigns and events
- Translating policies, service changes and organisational priorities into accessible information and engagement opportunities
- Gathering and analysing feedback to identify themes and opportunities for improvement
- Helping teams demonstrate what people have told us, what action has been taken and what has changed
- Developing accessible feedback loops and tracking “You Said, We Did” outcomes
- To develop and test accessible communication with people supported to check understanding and usability.
- Providing practical guidance to colleagues on accessibility, inclusive communication and co-production
You will ensure engagement is delivered safely, ethically and responsibly. This includes maintaining clear records of consent, accessibility requirements, feedback and actions, and protecting people’s confidentiality, dignity and control over how their words, stories and images are used.
You will work closely with colleagues across Operations, Quality, Health, regional teams and Communications and Marketing. The role’s focus is involvement, co-production, accessibility and accessible information, working in partnership with communications colleagues on wider campaigns and organisational messaging.
Success will mean people can understand information, contribute in ways that suit their communication needs and see clear evidence that their views have shaped decisions. It will also mean colleagues have practical tools and support to make their everyday work more inclusive and accessible.
