I'm 59 years old and enjoy being as independent as possible in my home. Sometimes I need a little encouragement, reassurance, and verbal prompting from my support team to help me get the most out of my day.
I have a visual impairment, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, autism, anxiety, and obsessive symptoms. My staff know me well and are specially trained to support me in a way that helps me feel safe, happy, and confident.
I love singing, listening to music, watching films, and catching up with my favourite soaps in the evening. During the day, you'll often find me out shopping, especially if there are hair bobbles and accessories to buy! I also enjoy trips to cafés for lunch, coffee, and cake.
I regularly attend an arts studio where I enjoy arts and crafts and meeting new people. I like chatting and being involved in my community, and I enjoy spending time with people who are friendly and kind.
What you'll be doing
I am supported by a team of four staff. There is one staff member on shift at all times, including a sleep-in shift overnight. Staff shifts start at 9:30am and finish at 9:30am the following day.
My staff will support me to:
- Remain as independent as possible
- Attend my arts and crafts sessions
- Go shopping for the things I enjoy
- Visit cafés for lunch, coffee, and cake
- Travel safely in my car
- Maintain my daily routines
- Build my confidence through encouragement and positive support
- Enjoy a happy and fulfilling life
I do not like shouting or loud, noisy environments, as they can make me feel upset and anxious. It is important that people speak calmly, give me time, and support me in a reassuring way.
I am a kind, friendly, and caring person. I enjoy welcoming visitors into my home, having a chat, and offering them a drink or a toffee. I like making people feel welcome and enjoy spending time with others.
With the support of my team, I can continue to enjoy the things I love and live my Best Life Possible every day.
