Our charity was founded in 1988 and we were one of the pioneers of the ‘Care in the Community’ agenda, enabling people to move out of long-stay institutions and live more fulfilling lives.

Since then, we’ve remained leaders in social care, providing bespoke support to thousands across the UK. Today, we support more than 2,600 people and employ 6,600 caring and committed colleagues across England and Scotland.

We have a proud history of breaking boundaries and are always looking for new ways to make a positive difference through bold ideas, innovative projects and impactful partnerships.

  • Who you’ll be supporting & more about the role:

  • Are you seeking a job that is rewarding and offers variety? Do you enjoy working with people and want to make a real difference?

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Female Support Worker for 26 hours per week in the Drumoyne/Govan area of Glasgow. The shifts will generally be 2 x13 hours per week.  This role requires a full UK driving license.

You will be required to work in a flexible and person-centred manner that meets the needs and preferences of the people we support, enabling them to live the life they choose.

This role is supporting 2 individuals who share their home.  The people we support have faced a lot of challenges in the past because of their learning disabilities and physical health issues, but this hasn’t stopped them from enjoying life! Both individuals that we support are non-verbal, but can communicate using other methods.  The people we support enjoy lots of different activities, including going out in the car, shopping, swimming, musicals, dancing and enjoying their local area.

Our support team are very diverse and work well together to ensure the people we support are happy and safe in their own homes.  This can include:

    Supporting them with medication
    Cooking
    Assisting with personal care
Supporting with moving and positioning and attending hospital appointments
Maintaining the homes of people supported and managing their finances

Our team provide support 24 hours a day, so we are looking for some flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including some weekends and sleepovers. Shift patterns are 7.30am - 7.30pm and 7.30pm-10.30pm with a sleepover.

Sometimes the people we support really need a male or female person to support them. For this particular role, a female colleague is required.  This is a genuine occupational requirement as defined by the Equality Act 2010
